Affordable Child Care Benefit (ACCB)

The Affordable Child Care Benefit is a Government of B.C. program that can help eligible families with the cost of licensed child care. It is available to qualifying families with children aged 0 to 12 and is based on household income and family size.

Good to know: you apply through the B.C. government. The benefit is typically paid to a licensed provider. Actual amounts depend on income, family size, and hours of care.

Because Smart Steps Daycare is a licensed facility, families can ask whether ACCB can be used toward fees here. We do not publish individual fee schedules on this site — please call to confirm.

Group / multi-age child careMaximum monthly funding
Children under 19 months$1,250
19 months to under 37 months$1,060
37 months to school age$550
School age (during the school year)$415

Amounts reflect publicly posted ACCB maximums and can change. Confirm current rates on the Government of B.C. website.

Child Care Fee Reduction Initiative (CCFRI)

Public childcare directories list Smart Steps Daycare Inc. as a CCFRI participant. CCFRI is a provincial program that reduces parent fees at enrolled licensed facilities. Families usually do not submit a separate CCFRI application — the reduction is applied by the participating centre.

Combined with ACCB, CCFRI can substantially lower monthly costs for eligible families. Ask the centre how both programs currently apply to your child's schedule.

For official program rules, visit the Government of B.C. child care funding pages. This website summarises publicly available information and is not a government application form.
